Lots of hockey and baseball, Teen Wolf, Once Upon a Time, Avengers and sometimes completely random things, such as adorable pictures of puppies and hippos.
my favorite thing about people having it for scheming villains is that in retrospect everything the villain does is part of their grand scheme. NO sometimes when they are having toast*, they are just having toast, it’s not part of their mastermind plan to annihilate humanity or whatever.
*See Nie Mingjue crying about Meng Yao pretending to be delicate and poor
when he found him eating plain toast with no butter.
(poor twink on his meager lunch break- plain unbuttered toast- getting interrupted by his very powerful, very hot boss and getting an existential crisis. Is he getting laid off, is he getting an indecent proposal, he is on mountain, is he getting tossed off the mountain if he says no to the indecent proposal, and more importantly will he finish his lunch?)
No my man he was delicate and he was poor. He was also tired of being those two things, that’s part why he went on his merry campaign of murder and deceit.
(enter Meng Yao not orchestrating having to carry water for a living)
(Meng Yao not orchestrating his very own marginalization cont’d)
Also it’s pretty rich how Mingjue complains about Meng Yao’s ulterior motives, when he dressed up like this to cozy up to him.
(enter Mingjue’s prettiest outfit- this is a dating outfit, fun and casual with a lot of style, it says even if I am your king, you can talk to me. I only approached you now, because you are sitting down and I must be looking really tall from down there.)
(enter Mingjue’s gay once-over)
(enter Mingjue’s “Dude, why are you eating plain unbuttered toast at the Sunday Office Barbecue? Is someone bothering you?”)
(Exit Mingjue with “Can you come see me kick ass for you, so that you know there are perks to being with me”)
(Later that time in the batcave: Mingjue: Stand really close to me when I publicly defend you. I look really good when I am angry at people who are not you.)
(Literally one minute later: Mingjue: You know what, here’s a promotion that is also a marriage proposal, to bring you up to my level so that we can date comfortably. What was your name again?)
My man, my Mingjue, my Bruce Wayne of the cultivation world, he was carrying water not ten minutes ago.
You are moving too fast. You are confusing him.
CONCLUSION: Catastrophe could have been avoided if you Nie Mingjue were not so horny that you gave Meng Yao a promotion on the very same day you learned his name.
BONUS ROUND: Let’s also not forget his BATMAN-like appearance. Who are you trying to not impress, Nie Mingjue?
You are drinking water alone in a completely empty forest.
Hey I am a huge fan of both the TeenWolf version of Sum of its Parts and the original version... I've got the first 8 books in both Kindle and paperback copy. I was looking to see if book 9 was coming out yet and I saw it released on lulu as an epub in August --- Forgotten but not gone. Fantastic!!! I was wondering if you were going to release a paperback version and possibly a Kindle version? Paperback moreso than Kindle really, I think my e-reader can handle epubs...
Anyways excited to see the series is still in publishing progress and hoping I can keep buying it both ebook and paper style! Thank you!
yeah, the paperback has been delayed a couple times because Lulu changed their formatting and we haven’t been able to get it right yet … we’re working on it, I promise (by ‘we’ I mostly mean ‘my wife’ who does the graphics)
for kindle … it should be out … but it isn’t … in fact the entire series has apparently vanished on Amazon, which is the kind of thing I love to discover at 4 PM on a Thursday
guess I’ll have to figure out what happened there, when my spoons return from the war
tl;dr I’m trying I swear
No no look @gingersnapwolves they’re still showing up available to buy through the Kindle store on my actual Kindle app? And also if I log in to Amazon Shopping app and search through there, I can find both Kindle and paperback options? Um I always search by E.M. Holloway, idk if that helps any. Or well, its actually 7pm now, not 4pm, so maybe you already solved the problem… in which case yay it worked!
Absolutely no rush, feel no pressure, you do your thing in your own time and KUDOS. Wasnt meant to be a pressure post at all, I just saw that book 9 was available in one format so I thought I’d ask about the other format. Be Robert Jordan and the Wheel of Time if it pleases you, I will still be here happily randomly checking in to see if the next installment is out and rereading all the old bits in the meantime (and also reading all your CQL fic now that I’ve discovered it)
rewatching the second half of The Untamed and still just utterly dying at that scene with Lan Wangji staring at Jiang Cheng and refusing to say a damn word about his precious spirit nets or his spoiled nephew, meanwhile Lan Jingyi and Lan Sizhui are just translating his glower for him and I’m just like??? wondering when that became a thing???
like, the first time Jiang Cheng and Lan Wangji met once the juniors were old enough to be traveling around, was Jiang Cheng snarling at him and Lan Wangji standing there stone-faced for like a full hour before Lan Sizhui was hesitantly like “um … I think what Hanguang-Jun means….” or??? technically they have absolutely no right to speak on his behalf but he’s clearly totally fine with that so did they just??? start doing it???? to prevent lengthy awkward silences???
or the first time Jiang Cheng was going to be around, did Lan Xichen pull them aside and be like ‘so my brother doesn’t talk to Sect Leader Jiang as a matter of principle, he absolutely will not say a single word, feel free to jump in whenever you want. it doesn’t matter if you interpret his facial expression correctly or just make stuff up. he will not care.’ and Lan Jingyi was like ‘it’s my time to shine’
I would love to talk about the fact that in ep 22, when Wen RuoHan asks Meng Yao “Did he kill Wen Xu?” Meng Yao didn’t answer. He thinks
And says nothing.
No one else was there. All the other Nie Clan members were dead. It was just him and Wen Ruohan and Nie Mingjue, who was already very injured and unconscious.
It would have been so easy to say ‘yes’ because it was the truth. He could have let Wen Ruohan kill him with no blood on his hands and an airtight reason in the Yin Iron that he was not strong enough to fight back and stop him. Considering how he had just treated Mingjue, had antagonized him, killed his Clan members and considering his intentions to be politically active in the Jin Clan and how he knows how Mingjue holds a grudge and will likely never trust him again, it is incredibly politically and personally advantageous to just simply tell the truth and let the dominoes fall.
And he doesn’t.
reblogging just for the tags… HE WAS STILL WEARING HIS NIE BRAIDS OKAY
(repost from my twitter bc I had completely forgotten to post it here so there it is)
Hope you like it
Ugh I love this little dimpled sociopath

But like picture it. Yaoli is like such a good balance. Memg Yao being like, guess I gotta save my reckless brother-in-law and with a couple of good points and Yanli the Wens join the family. Meng Yao thinks that is the end of it but then WWX has ADOPTED apparently and now a timy A-Yuan is following his Xiao-Shushu around and Meng Yao is gone. No one is touching this kid. Yanli agrees. Meanwhile there is JC happily and confusedly stumbling around WQ in some parody of courting. 1/2
So of course Meng Yao and JC, without WWX present, probs qhen they qre both working on paperwork, have this quiet convo about talking and telling someone you are interested. And even if they don’t get together WQ and JC become friends. And Yanli is so happy to have the house full of noise and her hubby supporting her loved ones so she wants him to have his. Que her writing some letters to NHS and LWJ (killing two birds at once with this given WWX pining) 2/3
So with some mild scheming, a few dinners, bonding over fans, and Yanli getting two new friends the triogets the 3zun together and theybtalk through their issues before it gets too murdery. Memg Yao is touched, Xichen is thrilled his best friends are gettinf along, Mingjue admits he may have missed Meng Yao, and NHS is thrilled because he always liked Meng Yao and is happy to be able to spend time with him (whoch he did when possible anyway) without shouty big brother fallout. 3/3
Anon, you have the BEST galaxy brain, holy FUCK. I LOVE the image of JC awkwardly doing bird mating dances around a very confused Wen Qing.
Oh oh OH. Maybe in THIS one, the way to save the Wen remnants is that when WWX comes busting out of Qiongqi way and A-Yao is the one that shows up while Yanli and JC and LWJ stay behind and calm down the Sect Leaders and speak on behalf of their less than diplomatic shixiong. WWX looks down at him with a zombified WN and hoard of scared Wens and says, “HELP.” And since JGY has absolutely no reason to cover for his father and what he’s been doing to the Wen’s anymore and he likes Wuxian and it would make his wife very happy, he says, “I have an idea.”
And there may be a bit of a panic getting everyone back to Lotus Pier because they know the Jin’s are gonna be pissed about the jail break and JGY looks over at JC and says, “You have to marry Wen Qing,” and just about everyone spits out their various drinks and says, “wHaT,” at every conceivable volume but he’s right and if they are under the Jiang’s protection, JGS has to play nice because the Sects are so close. JC is Very Worried about what this means for his image as a Sect Leader, but both his siblings and brother-in-law convince him that it’s okay because a lot of the Sect Leaders suck a lot, actually? Wen ‘I would do anything for the people I love’ Qing says “Fine. When’s the wedding?” and they are married, of course for Very Political And Not Personal Reasons At All, This Is Strictly Business And For The Good of Not Perpetuating Genocide, Thank You Very Much.
And that’s how you end up with 2 Marriages of Convenience Growing Into Love in 1 AU, thanks for coming to my tutorial.
Wuxian gets right on making Wen Ning all conscious again in the comfort of his own home.
JGY going straight up from ‘why is this child following me’ to ‘this child…is now my nephew. I’ve never had a nephew before. And if anyone looks askance at said nephew…they are going to die very horribly :) ‘ and WQ is like ‘…okay buddy. Thanks?’ and WWX is like ‘HELL YEAH, YOU GET ME’.
3zun’s making nice on each other just makes it all the more impossible for Jin Guangshan to pull any bullshit on the Jiang Clan for oopsie-absorbing the last of the Wen’s because when you have a very pleasantly and pointedly smiling Lan Xichen and a no-nonsense glaring Nie Mingjue when you bring it up at the next Cultivation Conference, it sort of makes it obvious that 3 of the 4 Big Clans are not going to go along with your fuckery anymore, my guy.
Yanli very deliberately building a supportive social network around her husband and socializing him to actually accept love and care is the best bedtime story, TELL IT AGAIN.
IT KEEPS GETTING BETTER

your post about yanli and jgy was intriguing so maybe some of them? either being friends or being married.
[*standing alone and stunned with an armful of Feelings™* Uhhh…]
This is not what they wanted, and it’s almost enough that they both know that. Yanli knows that it’s not fair, because she has come out with the better half of the bargain–she gets to stay at Lotus Pier with her brothers, her people, her home. Jin Guangyao has been married off, outside of his Clan, practically abandoned to the plain faced sister of a Sect Leader; the second choice after his older brother’s engagement to her fell through with devastating finality. She doesn’t know if that bothers him–it would have driven A-Cheng to near lunacy, had the same happened to him. But Jin Guangyao has been patient in all of their meetings, his manner pleasant, his smile gentle.
